Eira Søyseth is a Norwegian poet, translator, and literary organizer based in Bergen. Her debut collection Farget flekket nå (Speckled, Stained Now) (2022) received strong critical acclaim for its accessible yet formally precise language and its movement between the private and the collective.

Her second collection, Fellesskapsmonsteret (Togetherness Monster) came out in April of 2026, and asks what it means to believe in community in a world defined by crisis and chaos — where hope might be found, and what forms of collective life remain possible. The poems move between stubborn faith and resignation, and have been praised for their openness to the world, their warmth, and their grounding in the streets and parks of Bergen. Reviewer Freddy Fjellheim called it an ode to hope and joy, and described Søyseth as a potential defining poetic voice of her generation.

She is the founder and editor of the poetry initiative Blekk. The project started out in 2020 as an online magazine for poetry, but has since 2024 taken a new form. Once a year (usually in September!) Blekk gathers several poets to Bergen, for a seminar and a celebration of a new publication with texts about poetry, handprinted on a riso printer. Over 50 poets have been involved so far in Blekk since the beginning, and Søyseth also does all the design work for this project.

Søyseth is the editor of the poetry column at Klassekampens Bokmagasin together with Pedro Carmona-Alvarez. She has also translated two books by the fantastic Danish poet Mette Moestrup into Norwegian, Til den skjønneste (To the most beautiful) in 2020, and Butterfly Nebula in 2026.  Søyseth collaborates regularly with writers and editors across the Nordic literary field. She's also done several long form literary interviews both on stage and in text. 

Søyseth holds a master's degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Bergen, with a thesis on the narrative structures in Swedish writer Sara Stridsbergs book Drömfakulteten (The Dream Factulty), and has studied at Skrivekunstakademiet in Bergen (academy for Creative Writing in Bergen) in 2017/18.
